Road to knowledge will be safe even at polar night

On September 1, several hundred first graders living in this Polar region received light-reflecting labels as a gift from inspectors of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate. The so-called "initiation to pedestrians" ceremony took place within the framework of the All-Russia campaign "Caution: children!", in which all militia units are taking part.

Employees of the State Traffic Patrol Department visited all schools of the region, spoke during solemn assemblies reminding of the importance of observing traffic safety rules.

"This is always a red-letter day, especially impressive it is for first-graders, and we hope that the children will better remember what we got across to them during solemn events," said Denis Zaytsev, the head of the public safety militia of the Internal Affairs Directorate in Murmansk city.

To make the schoolchildren even more aware of the simple traffic safety rules, employees of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate traditionally presented them gifts. The light-reflecting devices which any child will have to have on their clothes or schoolbag under bad visibility and during the already approaching polar night, are made as white and blue round stickers. They are easy to attach to a schoolbag or a jacket, and they are no likely to come off or be lost.

Employees of the State Traffic Patrol Department had a talk not only to the small pedestrians, but also to their parents and asked the adults to make their children use the reflecting devices by all means and be as attentive as possible on the way to school and back.
